Chris Carpenter likely out for 2013- MLB Update
Different sources are speculating in the media that the St. Louis Cardinals clutch pitcher Chris Carpenter will not be playing in 2013 Major League Baseball season due to his recurrence of nerve injury that already cost him big time in the last MLB outing.
“He's leaving the door slightly open, but it's unlikely, After speaking with him on the phone you certainly get a sense that he's more concerned about life after baseball, When he was healthy he was one of the best, He was blessed with talent but he also
worked extremely hard. When I think back over the last 10 to 15 years here in St. Louis he was one of those guys who just helped create the model of success. He left nothing to chance," General manager John Mozeliak.
"I don't know if I've ever witnessed a better competitor than Chris, and also leader," also said manager Mike Matheny, a former catcher and teammate of Carpenter's before his current role as manager.
Despite injury, Carpenter still managed to perform with quite persistency in the last Major League Baseball season. He showed true commitment and finished the season achieving 3.71 ERA along with 0-2 win-loss, 12 strikeouts and 1.12 WHIP.
His career stats have been also remained quite consistent throughout his time in the big league. He currently carries healthy career 3.76 ERA along with 144-94 win-loss, 1697 strikeouts and 1.28 WHIP.
Experts say Carpenter will return to the Major League after 2013 season. According to some inside MLB sources, Carpenter needs time to recover fully and in the meanwhile, he will surely be playing a positive role for the Cardinals’ young pitchers.
On the other hand, the Cardinals still has plenty of good pitchers even if Carpenter does not play in the next season. The Cardinals have Adam Wainwright along with Lance Lynn and Jaime Garcia in their 40-man roster and know that they are still strong offensively.
If all these starters do play a major part in the next season for the Cardinals, the St. Louis side has a clear advantage to win the World Series title.
