Chris Carpenter vows to do more for the St. Louis Cardinals – MLB News
Chris Carpenter mingled with thousands of other Redbirds (the sparkling players and fans of the St. Louis Cardinals) to celebrate the World Series Championship. On Sunday, October 30, as Busch Stadium was a site to behold.
Carpenter was one of the backbones of the St. Louis Cardinals, assisting and lending the team support to win throughout the year. It took him almost eight months to celebrate this rare event.
Chris first did it with ball in the regular season when he got on the Houston Astros to hurl a shut-out game, lending an 8-0 victory to the team to win the Wild Card race, coming behind against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Carpenter then did it in the National League Division Series when, engaged in one of the historic duels of baseball with Roy Halladay, he snapped a 1-0 victory in the important game to beat the Philadelphia Phillies, a team which was initially tipped to
be the indomitable one, to win this year’s World Series title.
But having firm belief in the team, their talent and resilience, Chris Carpenter did not yield anywhere. Instead he inspired the whole team with his amazingly brilliant performance throughout the year to win games and being continuously assisted by the equally
strong offence of the Cardinals.
"I've said all along that this group of guys is amazing," said ace Chris Carpenter. "We started in Spring Training. We have the best group of guys that I've ever been around. I will do anything for them.”
Chris Carpenter, among others, was a motivating factor. That cannot be denied. His contribution with others brought the Cardinals their 11th title in the history of the franchise, making them an ascendant team.
“Being able to win this World Series, bring it back to our city, some of the guys that have never had an opportunity to do this, unbelievable, and I am so happy for them."
With the likes of Chris Carpenter who richly handed out what they had in their pool of talent in the St. Louis Cardinals, it will be interesting to see how they repeat once the 2012 season kicks off.
