Chris Coghlan shows indifference to his prospects for Miami Marlins roster - MLB Update
Chris Coghlan shrugs off his prospects for making to opening day roster. Giving an impression of being least concerned, he says he looks ahead on his batting improvements. For him, roster cuts on the eve of regular season are an obvious part of the game
and a player must be resilient enough to keep these developments independent from his actual play.
“That stuff is inevitable. That’s the nature of the game,” said Coghlan. “There’s no sense in worrying about it. I put my faith in the Lord and not the game.”
Way back in 2009 Major League season, Coghlan had gone through an amazing period of his career and since he was still a Rookie, he knew his best had yet to unfold. Excited to make even a bigger impact in 2010, unfortunately a left knee injury ruined his
hopes.
Not playing for 2010 and 2011, he has been looking forward to get rid of an injury at the earliest.
When inquired about his 2012 season spot, he placed more emphasis on his health and feeling good as opposed to expressing consciousness as to where he stands in the books of his manager.
So far he has not shown much in Spring Training and with a batting average of just .229, manager Ozzie Guillen, will be confronting tough trade-offs during the season.
As he plays as an out-fielder for Miami Marlins, his competitors for the spot have shown better credentials. Amid the presence of players like Austin Kearns and a likely comeback of injured Giancarlo Stanton and Logan Morrison, as manager Ozzie Guillen believes,
it will not be easier for Coghlan to receive a call.
“They have to make decisions on a bunch of guys,” said Coghlan.
Manager oversaw Stanton and Morrison as they played in a Minor League game. After making a thorough analysis of both, the manager looked convinced that they are not far from making start in the season.
Regular season is still a week away and with couple of impressive hits and few ground outs in the field Coghlan can again become a priority for management in deciding their opening day roster.
