Chris Davenport to ski volcanoes in Washington, Oregon and California in May
American professional big mountain skier Chris Davenport is all set to ski all the volcanoes in the Pacific Northwest in the month of May.
The Aspen-based athlete has named his latest campaign “The Ring of Fire,” a name highlighting the nature of the trip and mountains that he will be skiing next month.
Davenport will be accompanied by a small group of skiers who are looking for the same thrill as the planner of the whole expedition. This selected list of skiers include Daron Rahlves and Jess McMillan, both of whom are pretty excited about what the trip
has to offer.
Photographer Christian Pondella will also be joining the team to capture the moment on camera to later reproduce it and present it to the entire world. The trip can hardly be called safe, though remaining surrounded by a number of professional big mountain
skiers is bound to keep Pondella confident.
The Ring of Fire expedition will find the big mountain skiers heading to Washington first to climb and ski Mount Baker, Glacier Peak, Mount Rainier, Mount Adams and Mount St. Helens before heading to Oregon to climb and ski Mount Hood and Mount Jefferson
and a few other mountains.
Getting done with Washington and Oregon, Davenport and his team will turn their attention to the volcanoes in California.
“It is going to be physically demanding, moving from trailhead to trailhead every day. We might try to do two volcanoes in a day; some of them are small. And some might take two, even three days, like Rainier, or Glacier Peak,” conceded Davenport.
There is very little that Davenport has not already accomplished in big mountain skiing, yet his passion to push the boundaries keeps him going for more daring missions, expeditions that offer him a challenge. Commenting on the upcoming trick, he said that
he was looking to get back to the spring of ski mountaineering road trip, one that he has carefully planned out to ensure its success.
The crew will be getting their power to go on with the help of Whole Foods, who will be sponsoring the expedition.
