Chris Draper pleased with 2012 America’s Cup World Series Naples Fleet Racing Championship win
After putting up an excellent snooker display on Naples waters, Chris Draper’s Luna Rossa stole the show with outstanding performance in the 2012 America’s Cup World Series Naples Fleet Racing Championship. The final day of the regatta was full of thrilling
competitions on the Naples waters. The Luna Ross Piranha team clinched 92 points after taking part in seven races.
The weather conditions over the racing day were tricky as the breeze fluctuated during the regatta proceedings. At the start of the regatta, the breeze was a bit low but as the fleet surged into the final proceedings, the forecast changed to higher winds.
Meanwhile, the second place was occupied by the overall circuit leaders, Oracle Racing Spithill skippered James Spithill. They earned 77 points after seven races with convincing sailing on the Naples waters. Draper’s team must be looking forward to reach
the top spot in the overall circuit standings and nudge Spithill’s team down.
While speaking to the media after winning the regatta, Draper expressed his happiness saying that they are very pleased with the event and the team’s efforts. He added that they did not have many expectations with the team but the crew members performed
well and finally they were able to win the regatta with 92 points.
Their aim is to challenge Oracle Racing for their top podium place in the overall circuit standings and Draper believes his team has the capability to steal the show and hit the leading position in the Ac World Series.
