Chris Froome ready for Vuelta as Team Sky pumped up before the Grand Tour – Cycling News
Chris Froome is included in team Sky’s squad for the Grand Tour starting on August 20 as he is looking ahead to support the team at Vuelta a Espana. The 26-year-old has been training hard for the event and believes that he will dominate the Tour with the
company of his experienced team-mates.
Froome will be supporting Bradley Wiggins who has returned after recovering from the crash during stage 7 of Tour de France. Wiggins has now fully recovered as he is ready to lead the team Sky in the Vuelta. Team Sky has announced the list of 9 cyclists
participating in the Vuelta a Espana, 2011 that follows Kurt-Asle Arvesen, Chris Froome, Dario Cioni, Thomas Lofkvist, Morris Possoni, Ian Stannard, Chris Sutton, Xabier Zandio and Bradley Wiggins.
Chris explained that he was lucky to have participated in the Brixia Tour and Tour of Poland as both the races have helped him to prepare for the Vuelta. Froome has also participated in the Olympics test event held earlier this month and has shown good results
in the event as he believes that his performance is getting better and better in every game as he mentioned after the Olympics test event, “It just feels that every race I’m going to the form is getting better and better” he further added, “I’ve put in some
really good training rides back at home too and I’m just really looking forward to getting stuck into the Vuelta.”
Froome believes that his team’s chances are very good in the event as he revealed that team Sky is really excited about the event and are optimistic for the Vuelta a Espana. He added that after the Eneco Tour win by Edvald, team’s morale is really boosted
up and team Sky is hopeful and committed to ride the tour in the same spirit.
Vuelta a Espana will last for 21 days and only the toughest of the cyclists will make their way to the podium. Cyclists will have to fight against a lot of things including the hot weather while keeping in mind the Tour de France which experienced a lot
of crashes ending the tour for many at the initial stages.
