Chris Gayle and West Indies Cricket Board to sort out differences – Cricket News Update
It seems as if the dust may finally be settling between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221, the left-handed batsman, and the West Indian Cricket Board. A meeting was held between Gayle and the officials of WICB and CARICOM at St Vincent. The purpose of the meeting was to sort
out the differences between the parties and to reach a mutual agreement regarding the left-hander’s future in the West Indian team.
It is expected that the dispute may come to an end and Gayle will once again don the maroon. However, for that to happen, the left-hander has to eat up his words and apologise for his actions.
Fritz Harris, the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) secretary, said “A meeting has been arranged for today (Monday) between Gayle, the WICB and a few heads of government in a bid to arrive at an amicable solution that could result in Gayle returning to the
team.”
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harris-c61739 continued, “As we are all aware, there have been efforts to have the matter resolved in recent weeks, including all the workings coming out of CARICOM etc, and I suspect that this meeting is a sort of culmination of the efforts.”
If everything goes according to plan, the 32-year-old will be making a return in the ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746, who are currently touring the West Indies. Gayle’s inclusion will certainly boost the hosts' moral.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326 said, “We've got to be (ready). If he comes back in there's no doubt he'll certainly strengthen up the West Indian team.
He's a serious player.”
Gayle, in a radio interview, criticised the West Indian coach, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 cricket from the sidelines.
The 32-year-old last played an ODI match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 at the 2011 World Cup at Mirpur.
Gayle has been participating in other countries' domestic competitions, during this period. The hard hitting batsman has been a hot commodity for Twenty20 franchises, such as the Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Barisal Burners.
