Chris Gayle and co. may not be allowed to play KFC Big Bash
Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard may have refused to sign the West Indies Cricket Board contract, but the board has said that does not mean they will be automatically allowed to play in the KFC Big Bash T20 tournament in Australia.
According to the WICB and even Cricket Australia spokesperson, Michael Brown, the foreign players who get selected to feature for the Big Bash tournament will need an NOC from their cricket boards. And the recent statements from Ernest Hilaire, the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760
Cricket Board (WICB) chief executive, hint at the WICB having second thoughts on allowing the players to go to Australia for the tournament.
In the last season, Gayle played for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844. Both had contracts for two years each, while Bravo, who was a part of the Victorian side, is said to be interested in rejoining the side.
According to Hilaire, the players appear to be thinking that if they did not sign the central contracts, they are free to feature in any tournament around the world. However, Hilaire cautioned the players by saying that they would still need NOCs from the WICB.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brown-c48671 added, "I would not see a situation where a player would be putting his position with his board at risk without consent."
Brown also said that the relationship between the cricket boards was of paramount importance.
Earlier, the trio of Bravo, Pollard and Gayle had refused to sign central contracts with the WICB. Gayle and Bravo had been offered Grade A contracts, while Pollard was given a Grade C contract worth $80,000 only.
Hilaire also spoke about how players have got injured while playing in such tournaments before important international tours. He added, "We have allowed it to happen and the time has come not for us to say we are not supporting any player playing elsewhere,
but to find the right arrangement and framework in which our interest is not compromised."
