Speaking to Trinidad and Tobago’s newspaper, Newsday, Gayle said that “I am excited to be a part of the Nokia CL T20. I want to do well, just like any other player, and I am looking forward to it”.
Although Gayle will be making his CLT20 debut on the mega event’s third consecutive season, but his participation for the Bangalore outfit does not come as the first.
The Caribbean star cricketer had been a pivotal batting talent for the Royal Challengers during the recent, fourth season of the cash rich, Indian Premier League (IPL).
Following the closure of the competition, which was won by the Chennai Super Kings, under Dhoni, Gayle stood out as the highest run scorer for the Royal Challengers as well as for the competition, bagging an aggregate of 608 runs from 12 matches, at a striking
average of 67.55.
However, for the CLT20, Gayle comprehended that the competition may come a little different from the IPL, but is determined to offer his best for the billionaire, Vijay Mallya owned team.
“The IPL was massive and I took a lot of positives, but the Champions League is a different scenario” said Gayle. “There will be different teams we will be playing against and different situations. It is going to be a big good contest amongst the bowlers
from the different teams”.
