http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221 credits KKR batsmen for 47-run win – Cricket News Update
The explosive Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman, Chris Gayle, credited Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) batsmen for posting an intimidating 190-run total on the board to help the side clinch a convincing 47-run win in an IPL5
fixture played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, on Saturday night.
While speaking to media reporters after the match, the destructive West Indies' all-rounder admitted that it was always difficult for them to chase down a colossal 191-run target on the low and slow Eden pitch.
"On this wicket, 190 was an imposing target. Eden wicket is slow and low...credit goes to their batsmen for scoring the total they did," Gayle said at the post match press conference.
The RCB opener singled out the KKR skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/G-Gambhir-c1447, for leading the side from the front.
“You have got to give him (Gambhir) the credit… He set up his team very well. He has played his part excellently… And he is a quality player,” said the belligerent top-order batsman.
Gambhir played a herculean knock of 93 runs from just 51 balls, laced with nine muscular boundaries and five lofty sixes to guide the side to a competitive total of 190 for 4. The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Anthony-Hibbert-c81005 was later named as the Man of the Match for his hefty knock.
In reply, the Royal Challenger went off to a sluggish start as the side was reeling at 56 for 3 half-way. Gayle’s late blitz (seven fours and six sixes in 58-ball 86) were not enough to help the side seal the deal in its way, as RCB fell short of 47 runs
in the end.
Gayle also credited KKR spinners, especially compatriot http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sunil-Philip-Narine-c91869, for keeping the RCB line-up under check right from the start of their chase.
“Narine is a mystery bowler. He can get the ball go both ways… On a better batting surface you may try to get on top of him. But it was difficult on this surface,” Gayle reiterated.
The left-hander hoped Royal Challengers will bounce back in the league when they next play Kings XI http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 at home, on Wednesday, May 2, 2012.
