Chris Gayle elated over his explosive beginning
The West Indian danger man, Chris Gayle, is enjoying his explosive start to the Indian Premier League. Gayle recently smashed his second hundred in the four games he has played so far for the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The Caribbean batsman whacked 107 runs off just 49 balls with the help of 10 boundaries and 9 huge sixes on Friday, May 6, 2011. Bangalore managed to post a huge 205-run total after being asked to bat first.
In pursuit of a daunting target, Kings XI Punjab stumbled at just 120 runs, conceding to Bangalore an easy triumph of 85 runs. Chris Gayle was the star of the night with 3 wickets to his name as well.
Gayle, who was overlooked in the January’s auction, feels great about his explosive beginning, coming into the IPL after being ignored initially and then smashing a couple of tremendous hundreds.
"The team has been doing well, they won four games straight so it's difficult to try and be in the top four at all times so things are going to get even more difficult now because of what's happening with a lot of teams - winning and losing at a particular time. So it's key for us to actually try and continue in new ways,” he shared.
In the mean time, Kings XI Punjab Captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Gilchrist-c918, accepted that his side had no reply to the Gayle blitz.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Punjab-c833 skipper had this to say about Gayle’s inning:
"It really was amazing considering in the first two overs he played and missed at six or seven deliveries at least. There was a little bit in the wicket, there was a little bit on offer for the bowlers and he obviously after about 10 balls thought I'm just going to try and take it on. He definitely rode his luck, he had good fortune in the first couple of overs, anything could have happened there but what he did do was capitalise on that and play an amazing innings, no doubt.”
