The West Indies coach, Ottis Gibson, is delighted to have the destructive left-handed opener Chris Gayle back in the team and expressed that the former captain has nicely adjusted into the new dressing room atmosphere.
The 32-year-old has been out of international cricket since the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Cricket Board (WICB).
The Jamaica-born cricketer is one of the modern-day greats of the game as he has scored more than 15 thousand runs at the ultimate level of the sport and on his day, he can singlehandedly take the game away from the opposition’s reach.
Gibson, who is also a former Test cricketer, has no doubts in his mind that Gayle is the most influential batsman in the world of cricket and there is no one who can hit the ball as hard as the Caribbean dynamite.
"Gayle is the best one-day batsman in the world and most destructive so my money will always be on him when it comes to hitting the biggest sixes," the West Indian coach believes.
The left-handed batsman has been in tremendous form off-late, although he has been out of the global arena for more than a year. In the fourth and the fifth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Gayle ended up as the highest run-scorer and held the
Orange Cap.
Gibson admitted that the inclusion of Gayle has enhanced his team’s strength and further added that the former West Indies captain is a morale booster for the side.
He added, "Gayle is a world class player and will strengthen us. He has always been a bit of a joker and prankster around the dressing room. He is his normal self and the team has always integrated guys very well. That has not changed. He has fitted in well
and is raring to go."
The three-match ODI series is going to start tomorrow at Southampton and the visitors would be looking to restore some pride after a thrashing in the Tests.
