The coach of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 cricket team, Ottis Gibson, is over the moon to have Chris Gayle back in the side after a long time and wants his players to enjoy themselves, while playing for the Caribbean side.
Gayle, 32, did not play any international cricket for West Indies after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Cricket World Cup 2011, played in the sub-continent, because of his differences with Gibson and the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
The destructive left-hander however, returned to the fold during the West Indies’ tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 earlier this year, after a remarkable season in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, finishing with
an Orange Cap (for scoring most number of runs in the tournament).
Gibson is happy with Gayle’s progress since returning to the side and expressed that he advised the Jamaican to play his natural game upon making a comeback.
"He's been back to his normal self. We had a chat when he came back into the team and I said, 'look, just be yourself; be the person that you are, the person that you were before all this stuff started and, more importantly, just
enjoy your cricket'," the former cricketer said.
The former West Indies skipper has returned to the side in a fascinating manner, playing out of his skin in the recently concluded series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754, scoring a big hundred in ODIs and Tests each, to compliment his two half-centuries
in as many T20s in Florida.
The Caribbean coach believes that enjoying the sport is the most important thing, in order to be successful at the ultimate level of the game. He is disappointed that the West Indian players look more motivated and energetic while
playing franchise cricket all around the world, as compared to international cricket, which remains the pinnacle of the game.
"It seems to me that when our players go out into the world to play cricket, when you see them on TV, they look like they are enjoying their cricket. Sometimes when you see them on our TV, it doesn't look like they are enjoying it
as much," the coach complained.
