Windies destructive opener, Chris Gayle, was happy after returning to international cricket, where he immediately made his presence felt with a 53-run knock against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
The Jamaican came out of a fifteen month exile following a dispute which saw him at loggerheads with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). The issue was later resolved amicably, ensuring his safe return into the Windies squad.
The dashing opener had an injury scare due to a shin injury, as he was dropped just prior to the start of the match played at Southampton. However, he was seen with his heavily strapped foot after the second One Day International (ODI) at The Oval.
"It's not too bad, it's just age catching up on Chris Gayle," he said. "I just have to monitor it. As you know, I'm struggling with basically a stress fracture," the 32-year-old told before the final match at Leeds. “It's good to be back to be honest," Gayle
concluded.
The opener, recently enjoyed a great stretch of form at the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) had an exceptional stint with the Royal Challengers Banglore (RCB) as he was declared the most successful batsman of the tournament. Speaking of his
future association with the franchise, the tall batsman said that it needs to be worked out as there is a lot of time for it. "I don't know what will happen (at the next IPL). We'll just wait and see what that window will bring,” Gayle added.
Gayle’s career has been impressive, where he has established his batting prowess in all formats of the game. After making his debut as a 19-year-old in 1999, he’s a veteran with 91 Test appearances for his side scoring 6373 runs at a healthy average of 41.65.
For now, the left-hander wants to focus on his international assignments, and is looking forward to fulfilling his commitments with the national side.
"I'm available for all forms of the game," the former captain said. "I've picked up niggles here and there but I'll just monitor them as much as possible. There's a lot of cricket to be played and I'm looking forward to it, hopefully I can score some more
runs in international cricket,” the Windies star concluded.
