Chris Gayle powers Royal Challengers Bangalore to victory against Rajasthan Royals – 2nd Innings Report
The Royal Challengers Bangalore took on Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, in Jaipur, for the 55th match of the Indian Premier League.
After a stuttering batting performance from the Rajasthan Royals the Royal Challengers Bangalore needed a nominal 147 runs to chase. The word nominal is used because the devastating Chris Gayle was to bat in the chase.
The crowd and viewers from across the world tuned in as Gayle and Tillakaratne Dilshan made their way onto the field to open the second innings of the match, as Shane Watson stormed in to bowl his side’s first over.
To everyone’s surprise it was Dilshan, who was on the offensive, from the word go as compared to Gayle. The Royal Challengers had 66 runs on the board by the end of the mandatory six over Powerplay with the 50 run mark coming up in just 28 deliveries.
Shane Warne’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals were in trouble and on the back foot early on and needed a wicket with Dilshan looking in fine form.
Yet it was Dilshan, who fell first when he lost his wicket on 38 runs from 24 deliveries, when he was outwitted by Warne in the seventh over. Dilshan did not connect with the shot as well as he would have liked and Ross Taylor made no mistake with the catch.
It was a case of out of the frying pan and into the fire for the Rajasthan side, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Virat-Kohli-c95424 made his way to the crease to continue the chase.
Gayle took the responsibility of scoring, as he blasted his way to another half century off just 33 deliveries, sending five shots to the boundary and another two flying over it for six.
Warne’s wicket of Dilshan proved to be a hollow victory, as Kohli picked up right where the previous batsman had left off.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915 went for over 10 runs per over as Gayle and Kohli pressed down on the accelerator.
The fans could not help but be entertained by some hard hitting on the part of the batsmen as Gayle would go on to score an unbeaten 70 runs off just 44 deliveries and would add two more sixes to his tally to finish with four in the match.
Kohli would also end up with 39 runs as the Rajasthan Royals crashed to another defeat, leaving the Royal Challengers Bangalore the favourites after another exhilarating performance by Gayle.
