Board (WICB) Regional Super50 tournament - scheduled to begin on October 19, 2011.
Although the news is not confirmed yet, the Chairman of the Selection Committee, Courtney http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dale-c52110, has revealed that the Board will heed into the matter and soon come out with a verdict.
Gayle’s recommendation as Jamaica’s Skipper may have come up after the team’s former Captain and West Indies’ deputy, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BP-Nash-c1183, decided to step down from the post due to personal matters.
However, with Nash out of the ranks, many new additions to Jamaica’s roster have been confirmed, including new comers, Jermaine Blackwood and Kenardo Lewis.

The Regional Super50 tournament is set to kick off with the series opener between Barbados and Sagicor High Performance Centre, on October 19, at the Everest Cricket Club Ground, Georgetown, Guyana.
Other contenders on the tournament, spanning between October 19 and October 29, include Guyana, Winward Islands, Combined Campuses and Colleges, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, and Leeward Islands.
Commenting on his team, the Jamaican Coach, Junior Bennett, said that he will be leading a balanced squad of players that were most effective on the Guyana pitches.
The Coach added that he hopes that the young players on the team make good use of the opportunity to play for Jamaica, which may pave a solid spot for them on the squad.
“It is also good to see a few young players emerging like Blackwood and Lewis, and we hope they come and make good use of the opportunity,” he added.
However, Bennet also feels that his team will aim to come out with an exceptional performance on the competition, that would aid the side in marking its first win on the tournament since 2007.
