Chris Gayle says team will support Darren Sammy
Chris Gayle has shown his support for the new West Indian Captain Darren Sammy, saying the whole team will support him in his role as the captain of the side.
Chris Gayle, who is an explosive batsman for his team was axed as the captain of his side when he along with Dwayne Bravo refused the Central Contracts of West Indies Cricket Board.
They refused the central contracts on the condition that they have to make themselves available for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 at all times. He has retained his place in the side for the Sri Lankan tour, but West Indies Cricket Board has made all rounder, Darren Sammy,
the captain of the side.
West Indies will play three Tests, 5 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 2 Twenty20s in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, in what will be a big challenge for West Indies. For Sammy, like any West Indian player, it’s one big dream come true to captain his side but apart from that
it would be one huge challenge for him to show some positive results.
Gayle said that it would be a new role for Sammy and he wishes him all the best. He also highlighted that the whole team would be around him and they will give him the necessary support.
Gayle’s support would be very crucial for Sammy and for the West Indies, as Gayle was the captain of the team for quite some time and has the required experience to master the troops in different phases of the match.
Gayle would have to act as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/A-Mentor-c41238 in order for Sammy to make effective decisions as a captain, because of Sammy’s inexperience in Tests Gayle’s role would be crucial.
Gayle further said that Sammy himself will have to take charge and lead his Team from the front. He said that they all know he is capable and will provide him with guidance and help. Support from team mates would be necessary for Sammy, as he has not played
many Test matches.
Sammy has played in only 8 Test matches, in which he has managed 27 wickets with an average of 27.74. He has been able to play more ODI matches, as he has played 43 ODIs and has taken 31 wickets in them.
Sammy would have to deliver his best as wickets in Sri Lanka are batting friendly and most fast medium bowlers do not get much assistance from wickets. Sammy has an inspiring personality and can lead the team with some positive attitude. When he was made
captain he himself said that he would bring energy and passion to West Indies cricket and it seem that is what their cricket requires at the moment.
Gayle’s comments would be a great confidence booster for the all rounder as he needs the support of all the experienced players to support his captaincy during the Sri Lankan tour.
West Indies have shown poor form lately and have lost many Test series against top sides. This year they lost a Test series 2-0 at home against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757. They were whitewashed 5-0 in the One Day series and they are in urgent need of a win to boost their
lost morale. It would be one big challenge for this all rounder from St Lucia to pose a decent fight against the Islanders.
