Chris Gayle took the game away from us, says Robin Uthappa – Cricket News Update
Pune Warriors India's opening batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robin-Uthappa-c2356, feels Chris Gayle laid the foundation for Royal Challengers Bangalore’s six-wicket win over them at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Tuesday, April 17, 2012.
Opting to bat first, Pune http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221,
hammered a blatant knock of 81 runs from 48 deliveries to put the home side on course to a convincing win before http://www.senore.com/Cricket/AB-de-Villiers-c887 finished it off on the last ball of the match.
The Royal Challengers needed 21 runs off the final  over delivered by Nehra. De Villiers plundered a boundary and two sixes on three successive balls before rotating the strike, leaving it to partner Tiwary to take the winning two
runs off the final delivery. Tiwary finished it off in an impressive way looting Nehra for a six.
Uthappa said that no doubt de Villier and Tiwary kept their composure in the final over but it was Gayle at the top who set up the win for hosts.
"http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allan-Robert-Border-c43726 and Saurabh played out of their skins to get [the] required 21 runs in [the] last over. But I thought it was well set up by Gayle," said Uthappa at the post-match press conference here.
The 26-year-old wicketkeeper batsman hailing from Karnataka also said that they were short of 15 odd runs on the batting friendly Chinnaswamy track.
"The whole team thought we were 10-15 runs short as Bangalore is known for [a] good batting track. If a team had wickets till the end, it could surely reach the target," said the PWI opening batsman who top scored for the tourists with 45-ball 69.
Uthappa however, said that his team would not press the panic button following the defeat.
"In a tournament like this, you are going to lose a few games. But you should not allow defeat enter your psyche and bog you down," insisted the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 Indians and Royal Challengers in the previous editions of the
IPL.
