Chris Gayle’s future undecided as WICB believes working with him is difficult – Cricket News Update
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has communicated to Chris Gayle, the reasons of the left-hander’s ouster from the national side, despite him confirming his availability.
Gayle was not picked up for the 1st Test against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750, starting from June 20, 2011, at Kingston and the board has claimed that the 31-year-old player could not be included in the national squad unless the prevailing issues were settled.
The West Indies top-order batsman’s future is in the dark after a failed meeting between http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 Players Association (WIPA) and WICB as the Jamaican left-hander refused to withdraw his words, which he had used on radio against WICB last month.
Whtile talking to media, The WICB told, "The comments made by him [Gayle] in the KLAS interview had created http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Gordon-Muchall-c1499 ill-will with team management and unless there was a settling of differences, it would be difficult to see how the parties could harmoniously
function."
The 31-year-old West Indian was also not selected for the One-Day-International series against India. Gayle, who was expecting to be selected in the squad against the Men in Blue, since he had communicated his availability to the board, was frustrated with
the continued ignorance on part of the WICB.
A WICB source revealed that the meeting between the board and Gayle was so unpleasant, that at one stage, the president Ramnarine was going to thrash the WICB CEO, Hilaire.
Hilaire also indicated that the issues with senior players, including Jamaican http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jerome-Everton-Taylor-c66918, must be resolved as soon as possible.
Gayle, who was not http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, went to India to play in the IPL-4.
The Caribbean Dynamite emerged as the highest scorer of the league and received much praise and acclaim from cricketing circles.
However, Gayle’s inclusion in the national squad is unlikely in the near future due to his spat with the board. According to the WICB, Gayle has crossed his limits for slamming the board publically.
