Chris Hanson loses charisma at the ALLIANZ Open Côtes d’Armor Bretagne
Chris Hanson finished the first round of the ALLIANZ Open Côtes d’Armor Bretagne on the top of the leaderboard, but faced difficulty in the second.
The 26-year-old Englishman is doing his best, as he shot a 3-under 67, in the first round, at the Golf Blue Green de Pléneuf Val André in Pléneuf, France.
He played well in unfavourable weather conditions and displayed an impressive performance. The winds were blowing the course at 30 mph and all the players faced difficulties while scoring.
Four weeks ago, Chris and his wife gave birth to a baby girl, named Jessica. He is playing the current European Challenge Tour staged event for his daughter.
“I’ve had a month at home with my wife and Jessica, which I really enjoyed. Now that I’ve got another person to look after I guess there’s a bit more pressure on me to perform,” Chris said.
“But in some ways having a baby also puts your golf into perspective. It’s been an amazing experience so far, and she’s been as good as gold. I’ve obviously had one or two sleepless nights, but I’m certainly not complaining”.
In the first round, he started with a bogey, shot two pars and carded another bogey on the fourth hole. Making two consecutive pars, he shot an impressive eagle on the seventh hole.
Later, on the back nine holes, he amazed the spectators, as he was playing against the strong winds. He shot four massive birdies and finished the round by making another bogey on the 18th.
“I played well on the EuroPro Tour last year and had a good winter, which set me up nicely for this season. It’s obviously still early days, but hopefully I can keep it going,” Chris added.
He was unable to maintain his domination in the second round, as he scored 3-over 73 on Friday. He carded four bogeys, one double-bogey and only three birdies in total.
Posting an average score pulled him down by 14 positions and he finished tied for the 15th at the end of the day. Analysts said that the golfing star has to be impressive on Saturday, but he will have to make sure his game is better than average.
