Chris Henry to play the final – Rugby News Update
Chris Henry, the Ulster and Ireland 27-year-old back-row will be part of the 31-man squad that will take on Leinster in the final of the Heineken Cup.
Leinster are the reigning champions of the tournament and will be hoping to win back-to-back tournaments against their formidable opponents. Mr Consistency, Henry, has been drafted into the squad, and he will line-up alongside Stephen Ferris and Pedrie Wannenburg
for Ulster.
However, the coach of Leinster, Joe Schmidt, is weary of the threat posed by his teammate Ferris, who he believes is the person they need to stop. Commenting on his abilities, the coach said, "He makes a big impact in big matches - because they're the only
ones he plays! They save him, wrap him in cotton wool and he comes back to play massive games," Schmidt said. "He had a fantastic Six Nations and there is a lot of respect from our loose forwards towards him. They have all played with him on occasions and
speak very highly of him."
Leinster and Ulster both play in the RaboDirect PRO12 league, and it was in a game against Leinster that Henry injured himself last month. However, the team received good news on Henry recently, and he has been named Ulster’s Player of the Year as well.
Leinster has the upper hand on their rivals as they did the double on them during the season, defeating them home and away during the League.
Henry is also in line to add to the one cap he has earned for Ireland this summer, as it is expected that he will be called-up into the squad that tours New Zealand this summer.
