Chris Horner Supports Lance Armstrong in USADA case
Chris Horner has stepped forward to defend the seven-time winner of the Tour de France, Lance Armstrong after the cyclist has yet again accused of doping by USADA.
The duo rode together previously and developed a strong bonding during the time spent with Team RadioShack-Nissan and Team Astana.
USADA has released a 15-page report that specifically targets five names including Dr. Michele Ferrari, Pepe Marti, Lance Armstrong, Dr. Pedro Celaye, Dr. Luis Garcia del Moral’s and Johan Bruyneel of Team RadioShack-Nissan.
While sharing his thoughts on the issue Horner told Cyclingnews, “I read the news like everyone else but you look at it with Lance and it’s the same stories that have been going around for years”.
“Forever and it’s been relived and recycled many times. Lance has always come out clean from it”.
“I don’t believe Armstrong has cheated in any way to win those victories and he’s gone through an insane amount of testing”.
“Do we have pictures of it? Video or testing? Because without that you really don’t have anything,” he concluded.
Armstrong has bagged numerous victories in the past years and currently holds as many as 15 Grand Tour appearances under his belt.
He holds one Vuelta a Espana, one Giro d’Italia and thirteen Tour de France participations to his credit.
The cyclist holds the honour of winning the maximum number of seven Tour de France events starting from 1999 through 2005.
The American started his professional pursuit with Team Motorola in 1992 and stayed with the side for a period of five years.
He accepted an offer from Team Cofidis in 1997 and represented Team US Postal throughout 1998 to 2004.
Armstrong also rode for Team Discovery Channel (2005), Team Livestrong (2006-08), Team Astana (2009), Team RadioShack (2010-11) and currently resides with Team Livestrong.
Horner has been removed from Team RadioShack-Nissan’s initial squad for the Tour de France but with Andy Schleck out of the Tour, Chris is likely to make it through to the final squad.
“I’d love to go to the Tour All I can do is keep training and hopefully it works out,” he briefed.
Team RadioShack-Nissan General Manager, Johan Bruyneel has also been accused of possessing and trafficking drugs which can really hurt his and team’s future.
