Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has asked his team to be more ruthless and clinical in front of goal following the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Canaries-c38723’ defeat to German club Borussia Monchengladbach.
The club lost against Monchengladbach and were punished for not being clinical enough. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Hughton is now aware of the strengths and weaknesses of his squad players after the game. Hughton had himself branded the match against the German club his toughest
test as Norwich manager, and is disappointed to have lost it.
City lost the game 2-0 at Carrow Road, and this is the third time in a row that the club has failed to score in a game. This may point out problems for Hughton, but the manager is confident that his players will soon find their feet and start scoring again.
However, he is now aware of what the men in yellow need to work upon before they embark upon their Premier League campaign. Norwich’s finishing, as demonstrated last season, has been pretty decent as the club enjoyed a very fine season in the English top
flight under former manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 in an enthralling 3-3 draw at the Emirates, and had also scored goals against a number of top sides in the League.
Scoring for them was never really a problem, and with club captain and top goal scorer Grant Holt tied to a new deal with the Canaries, Hughton is hopeful of seeing goals from his side sooner rather than later.
Norwich’s last goal had come courtesy of a free kick against Ajax last month, which was taken by Anthony Pilkington. Talking about the squad’s finishing, or lack thereof, Hughton said:
“It is always a concern when you are not scoring goals and it is something that we have to address because it is the only way you win football matches. “
“But that is what this pre-season period is all about. One of the areas we haven’t done particularly well is score goals. It’s probably just a little bit of confidence in front of goal.”
“It is a technical ability to score goals and you either get it right or wrong. The two good chances we created in this game we could put away next week.”
Hughton has asked his side to be more ruthless in front of goal once the competitive season starts, and hope to see goals from his side as he looks to take on the challenge of surviving the ever dreaded ‘second season syndrome’ in the Premier League.
