Chris Hughton hails Andy Carroll and Chelsea interested in Nicolas Burdisso
Chris Hughton, the manager of Newcastle has said that his team should forget about the 6-0 thrashing of Aston Villa, and start the new game afresh. He said that the hat trick by his striker Andy Carroll was fantastic but it is unlikely that he will get such results that often.
Carroll playing in his first home game in the Premier League scored a brilliant hat trick. The unknown front man stormed into the headlines all over after the 6 nil win for Newcastle.
Hughton said that his striker needs to forget about the hat trick and work even harder to maintain the same standards. He said that there are always good times followed by testing ones so the 21 year old needs to be prepared for that.
The Magpies manager said that, he is a young player and should realise that football is not that easy every day. He added that the only way to succeed in the long run is to play every game as your first. He said that it is the time when things do not go for you that test the resilience of a player.
Hughton said that he is delighted by the form of Carroll and wants him to continue scoring goals for the club, but at the same time he should understand that tougher times are yet to come this season.
Andy Carroll did not just impress the Magpie fans, but also made an impression on England manager Fabio Capello’s assistant Franco Baldini who was present at St. James Park for the match. Hughton said that Carroll has a great chance of making it to the national team, but will have to sustain the same level of performance throughout the season.
The toons manager said that when he signed the striker in championship, he always knew he was going to be a success at the highest level. As for the England call up he is not ready just yet, but he said that it is up to Capello and his staff to determine that.
Hughton went on to say that, the most important thing for him is that Carroll keeps performing for Newcastle. If that leads him to the national team then it is all good.
Meanwhile English Premier League champions Chelsea, are believed to be interested in attaining the services of Inter Milan defender Nicolas Burdisso. Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti had earlier said that he would like to sign Benfica's David Luiz. However, the price tag on him of 27 million pounds has been termed as a bit too much by Ancelotti, and he has turned his attention to Burdisso.
The Premier League champions have been looking to find someone in defence, after selling off the Portuguese defender Ricardo Carvalho to Real Madrid. Burdisso is believed to be the perfect man to fill in at the backline for Chelsea.
Marco Branca the technical director at Inter Milan confirmed that Chelsea have enquired about Burdisso. He said that till now they have only made queries and a formal offer is yet to be made. The defender from Argentina may be willing to make the move, as he has not been able to get a permanent place at Inter. Last season he was loaned off to Roma. Inter have brought him back this year but still is not expected to feature in the first team for Rafael Benitez. Another option for Chelsea can be Maicon, the Brazilian has been wanting to move ever since the transfer window opened. Real Madrid turned him down due to the big price tag, but if a deal can be reached between Chelsea and Inter, Maicon may join the blues as soon as end of this week.
