Chris Iannetta’s new beginning with Los Angeles Angels – MLB News
Chris Iannetta is making a successful arrival in the Los Angeles Angels after spending five competitive years behind the plate with the Colorado Rockies. He was acquired on Wednesday in exchange for Tyler Chatwood, who himself has desired in the past that
he wants to be traded and thinking to test his skills with another team in Major League Baseball.
The Angels’ general manager Jerry Dipoto was very excited regarding this deal and expressed his satisfaction in front of a large media presence. Dipoto said, “He’s a leader behind the plate, I think the pitchers in Colorado always liked throwing to Chris.
This guy has a presence. He fits in a clubhouse, he fits on the field, and he fits in the line-up.”
After coming into the Angels franchise, Iannetta was also very happy and spoke in the media, “If I was going to get traded, I couldn’t be more thankful for the organization I was traded to, I’ll develop even more under someone with that character and background.”
Iannetta, who is considered one of the best catchers of the present era in Major League, has always performed well. Along with his brilliant batting skills, his arrival in the Angels roster will be a good beginning for him and at the same time for Los Angeles
as well.
Chris, who batted at .238, along with 14 home-runs, 55 RBIs and .370 on base percentage, make him a real prospect for the Angels next year.
His past presence with the Rockies was also appreciated by many along with several Colorado Rockies top executives. Iannetta, who played five full seasons with the Rockies, is among those very rare players in MLB who plays for one particular team for five
or more years.
Very few active Major League players play that long for a certain franchise. The main purpose of today’s players is to earn as much money as they can within two or three years and leave to get another opportunity from some other team in the league.
Regarding, Iannetta’s arrival in the Angels, many do not know that earlier the Los Angeles based franchise lost hope to get him as the Rockies were not interested to involve in a trade but when they spoke to Iannetta’s agent, they had to make this deal happen.
Iannetta’s agent clearly told the Rockies management that his client is thinking to test his skills with some other team and he must be given the chance to play wherever he wants to play. Later the Rockies agreed to trade him to the Los Angeles Angels. It
will be exciting to see what type of impact Iannetta will have on the Angels for the 2012 regular season.
