Chris Jackson joins Toreros of San Diego University – Volleyball news
The women’s volleyball team of San Diego University, commonly known as the Toreros, will be joined by the new technical coordinator in spring.
The staff of San Diego University volleyball program will have a nice addition in the form of Chris Jackson, who has been currently attached with U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team. He has been working with the U.S. National team since 2009 and has gained
plenty of experience during last two years.
He will continue working with the national team during the summers but will eventually shift to the University of San Diego in August 2012.
The Toreros finished the last season with an overall record of 28-5. Under the command of experienced Head Coach Jennifer Petrie, they set the conference record of 12-4. Team displayed incredible show of volleyball and overcame some of the tough challengers
in the season. They played 16 matches at the home soil and set the record of 12-4.
Likewise, they did not fail to impress in the away matches and managed to achieve 9-3 record.
It was due to the hard work of Head Coach Jennifer Petrie and Associate Head Coach Brent Hilliard that USD remained successful throughout the season. The team is determined to further improve its winning record in the 2012 season. That is why the team management
has decided to hire the new technical coordinator.
Jackson, who played an instrumental role in leading the U.S. national team to success in last three years, is the right person to help the Toreros in the 2012 season. The U.S. Men’s National Volleyball Team finished with 16-5 record in 2009, while Jackson
was part of staff of Head Coach Alan Knipe. Next year, the team ended up with final figures of 14-7.
Petrie shared her views about the addition Jackson in the staff. She stated, “We are very excited to announce the addition of Chris Jackson to our coaching staff. His experience with both collegiate volleyball and with the US Men's National Team makes Chris
a valuable asset to our program. He has tremendous volleyball knowledge and we are looking forward to having him work with our strong returning squad.”
