Chris Jordan delighted to be joining Sussex – Cricket News Update
Former Surrey all-rounder Chris Jordan has said that he was delighted to be joining http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852 on a two-year-deal, and hoped to prove himself a key player at Hove the next season.
"I am delighted to be joining such a fantastic club," Jordan said after signing a two-year deal at the Probiz County Ground, Hove.
"I hope to play a key role in helping Sussex challenge for honours in all three formats in 2013, and I look forward to joining the boys for pre-season and pushing for a place in the starting XI for the first game of the season," the right-hander added further.
Jordan, 24, who was released by the London county at the end of the 2012 season, was on Thursday signed by the Sussex CCC for the next two seasons.
The Barbados-born right-handed batsman, who also bowls right-arm medium pace, had first come to the Kia Oval in 2006, at the age of just 17. He made his first class debut with the club a season later and has since played 40 four-day matches, 20 List A games and 12 Twenty20 matches, picking up 112 wickets across all the three disciplines.
Though the former Surrey all-rounder does not boast impressive averages with the bat (21.83) as well as with the ball (38.47), his arrival at the Probiz County Ground has bolstered Sussex’s bowling options for the 2013 season.
After a turbulent season with Surrey, which was overshadowed by Tom Maynard’s tragic death, Jordan is looking forward to reviving his career with the Sharks, where he will join his former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851 skipper Rory Hamilton Brown.
"As soon as Sussex expressed an interest in me it became clear it would be an exceptional place to continue my cricketing development," said the Barbadian all-rounder, who is eligible to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
"...the set up at Sussex is perfectly suited to helping me achieve my career goals and ambitions of becoming a top class all-round cricketer," he added further.
Sussex’s Professional Cricket Manager http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mark-Andrew-Robinson-c74518 also Welcomed Jordan’s arrival at Hove, and described him as a player with "enormous potential", hoping to help the young talent become not only a match-winner at Sussex but also for England.
