Chris Langridge, Peter Mills tread into pre quarter-finals of Indonesia Open – Badminton News
Men’s Doubles team of Chris Langridge and Peter Mills of England had a dream start in Djarum Indonesia Open as the opening round match could not stop them from moving to pre quarter-finals on June 12, 2013.
Both British shuttlers joined hands against a higher ranked duo Rasmus Bonde-Mads Conrad Petersen in the local badminton complex of Jakarta. This tussle proved a tough trial for both pairs as it prolonged to 60 minutes before ending
with the decisive figures of 19-21, 21-15 and 21-12.
Though, the Danish players prevailed in the opening game, they could not move forward with same momentum and remained far behind in throughout the ending two games. On the other hand, the inexperienced but spirited British shuttlers
showed great fighting spirit and locked the honour in a splendid manner.
In first set of the match, the twosome of Rasmus Bonde and Conard Petersen ruled the court. Both Men’s Doubles experts launched an intensive attack immediately in the beginning and piled up a decent total in no time.
They strengthened their grip by putting a mountainous figure of 11 and then served notice of their dominance with a concluding score of 21-19.
However, they looked completely out of touch in the very next game, as they lost this crucial set with a deficit of six points.
Things went out of their hands when Chris and Peter claimed many valuable points in the preliminary stage. Both British players did not squander their early lead and doubled the total before one-minute interval.
After the mid-game break, the spirited duo ruled the court in few back-to-back rallies and widened the gap on points table. They managed to finish this game with a favourable margin of 21-15.
The decider became consequential with this 1-1 match score position. However, the partnership of Chris and Peter did not take pressure of the final set and played impeccable badminton.
Initially, they were bit sluggish but then few consecutive points gave them the required momentum and they enjoyed a smooth ride to victory. They placed an overwhelming total of 21-12 and setup their pre quarter-final clash with
Vladimir Ivanov-Ivan Sozonov of Russia.
