Chris Lloyd eyeing victory in Saint-Omer Open
Challenge tour player, Chris Lloyd is ready to test his luck on the Aa St Omer Golf Club, where the 12th edition of Saint-Omer Open is being held. Lloyd will be competing for the title, which will earn him an opportunity on stamping his name in
the official golf rankings.
The 19-year-old rookie exhibited fine putting skills at the start of the season and after finishing seventh on the Challenge tour rankings, he is ready to test his skills on the par-71 course, which is known for its treacherous fairways and undulating greens.
The Bristol native spoke to the press about his motives and stated, “Winning here would make a massive difference. Suddenly you are going to Germany next week and you’ve got your Tour card sorted for next year.”
Lloyd is positive that he will bag a trophy by the end of the weekend, as he has been working extremely hard for it. He said that he was looking forward to earn an exemption on the European Tour and the only way to achieve that was by giving a powerful performance
in the three upcoming tournaments.
Saint-Omer Open is a dual ranking tournament in which the winner of €600,000 prize will automatically earn an exemption into the European Tour.
Commenting on his upcoming appearances, Lloyd said, “This week is huge, next week is the Scottish Hydro Challenge and then it’s The Princess in Sweden, and all three carry good prize funds. So it’s a chance to get some decent prize money on board and cement
your place in the Rankings. If I do well in the next three then hopefully it will put me in a good position come the end of the season.”
The teen also shed light on his form, which he rendered as fit for a victory. He said that initially his swings were not aligned with his game, but with time, he found immense improvement in his form, which gave him confidence that he was ready to lift a
trophy this week.
