Chris Mullin says he is open to a Golden State Warriors return – NBA Update
NBA legend Chris Mullin has said that he would definitely consider coming back to the Golden State Warriors if the conditions were right. The former basketball star holds the record for most appearances in a Warriors jersey and
is considered a hero among the franchise’s fans.
After his legendary career playing with the Warriors, Mullin joined the front office. Chris served as the executive vice president of basketball operations for Golden State. However that relationship came to an abrupt end when
the Warriors decided to let go of the former small forward.
Mullins however holds no grudge against the franchise where he spent the vast majority of his career. He revealed in an interview that the Golden State Warriors will forever be in his good books,
“I’ve spent so much time there. I have so many good feelings about the organization, about the area, about the fans,” Mullin said during a sit down with reporters Friday. “If something came about, yeah. All the time I put in there,
I feel like I would do anything to help. They did a lot for me over my career, no question. I do feel a connection. I will always feel it, even when I went to Indiana. I’m a Warrior.”
Chris Mullin is set to be enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame after he was named in this year’s class of inductees alongside former Chicago Bulls forward Dennis Rodman. Mullin however was nothing like Rodman, at least as far
as personalities were concerned.
Mullin began his NBA career with the Golden State Warriors and despite having a solid college record behind him, there were many who doubted if the player could make it at the highest level. The cynicism seemed all the more ironic
given the fact that Mullin already had an Olympic Gold medal around his neck.
The player soon gained a reputation of being a hard worker and. Never the most gifted in terms of talent or athleticism, Mullin forged a Hall of Fame career through sheer hard work, dedication and hour after hour of practice.
In doing so the “gym rat” earned the admiration of many of his colleagues, including basketball legend Magic Johnson. Johnson once described Mullin as the model basketball player.
Although Chris failed to win an NBA World Championship in his time with the Golden State Warriors, the man who has two Olympic gold medals is deeply honoured to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
During the interview Mullin touched on the subject, thanking everyone he thought responsible for him coming this far.
“There have been a lot of people who have guided me along the way, professionally and personally. I don’t really feel it’s an individual accomplishment,” Mullin said. “Each stop along the way, it’s the people, really. That’s what
it is.”
