Chris Paul, Emeka Okafor - NBA players who may appear on the trade scene next season (Part 3)
4. Chris Paul
In New Orleans Hornets, the story isn’t much different from the Magic. As, the Hornets, will look to impede their star player, Chris Paul from taking a flight to another franchise. The situation in New Orleans is worse than Orlando
because besides Paul, key players like David West and Carl Landry are also unrestricted free agents this summer.
Consequently, the Hornets also had to follow the footsteps of the Magic, as they too need to bring another star in their line-up because alone Paul cannot led them to the contender status. Most importantly this is the only way
to stop Paul from moving away.
The Hornets are no way near the Magic when it comes to the winning record in the previous season, moreover New Orleans failed to register themselves berth in the 2011 playoffs. Therefore, it would be a huge mistake on the Hornets
part to trade away Paul in the next season, as this move wouldn’t leave much spark in their roster and a rebuilding with poor financials would spoil their situation even further.
5. Emeka Okafor
Emeka Okafor is another candidate from the New Orleans Hornets, who has also made the trade buzz. With a number players looking to depart from New Orleans, it’s best for them to accept that they need to start the rebuilding process
and it would be best for them to begin such a phase by trading both Paul and Okafor, who had still $40 million plus left on his pact.
By giving up just Paul, New Orleans wouldn’t get full value, but dealing away Okafor with him would definitely improve their financial condition and the franchise would be in a better condition to kick off the rebuilding process.
6. Mike Miller
Miami Heat’s swingman Mike Miller emerged on the trading block during the previous season, as the team was looking to exchange him for a skilful shooter that would give them more depth. As the 6 foot 8 failed to perform well with
the Heat, moreover the injuries he endured in the last season worsen the situation. After which Miller lost his the fine touch.
However, the plan of his trade was rescinded later, as many believe that it happened because he shares a close relation with LeBron James that saved him in the end.
Just after the formation of the “trio”, Miami made their first trip to the NBA Finals where the Dallas Mavericks bolstered them away with 4-2 record. After which the Heat received a lot of criticism over their lack of depth. Despite
the fact that franchise brought Miller in just to increase their depth and he let them down.
So if Miller fails to find his rhythm in the next season, it would become really hard for him to avoid the move. However, it’s not necessary for the Heat to keep him even if he performs well, as the team is well aware of his unpredictable
health.
