Chris Paul happy to stay at New Orleans Hornets – NBA Update
New Orleans Hornets super star Chris Paul isn’t keen on stoking the fires of the rumour mill.
The point guard has been consistently linked with a move away from the Hornets for a long time now, but he has maintained a consistent stand on the matter; he is happy where he is.
At least for now.
"I try not to pay attention to all that different type of stuff," Paul said according to ESPN. "My heart is in New Orleans."
Chris has been an overachieving point guard in a below par team throughout his career. Many believe the yearning to go somewhere he has a genuine chance of winning could prove strong enough for Paul to force a move this season.
Given his statements though, that seems unlikely. However, Paul once again cut a dejected figure with the New Orleans Hornets losing to the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the playoffs last season, and it is hard to believe
that he will put up with the mediocrity of his team for much long.
Therefore, next summer appears to be an opportune time for Chris to leave New Orleans. He will be an unrestricted free agent and a number of teams are already planning to put together an attractive project to lure him in.
Paul thought wouldn’t answer anything related to a future move.
"Oh man, I have no idea about that different type stuff," Paul, 26, said. "I think right now the thing that I'm most focused on is getting all these boxes out of my house in North Carolina and getting everything shipped back to
New Orleans so I can get ready for the season."
He was speaking from New York, where he, along with Miami Heat super stars Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony, has been doing some philanthropic work.
Interestingly, it is Anthony and his Knicks that Paul is most likely to join come the summer of 2012. Paul and Anthony share a strong friendship and it is believed they are planning to form a power trio, alongside Amar’e Stoudemire,
at New York to rival Miami’s Big Three.
Anthony has in the past said that he would like to play alongside Paul at some stage in the future. At the moment though, he was focused on the upcoming season with New York.
"We had a short run last year when I came here to New York. And now we get a training camp together, we get some time to gel," Anthony said. "... We're just excited to get back out there and have our shot to go get it."
