How do I have to practice to be able to jump like Chris Paul?

  1. This is a  A = C and A = B then B must = C question where CP3 is 'A', You are 'B' and the ability to dunk is 'C'. Mathematically you should have no problem. But, of course, A does not actually = B. I could tell right away if I saw you. You can work your legs, arms, abs, a**...It doesn't matter because jumping ability depends on type of muscle fibers. Working out will only give you an extra inch or 2 if your lucky.

    Not to be racist but if you're black you have a much better chance. It's true that WHITE MEN REALLY CAN'T JUMP. Most white guys have the muscle fibers designed for endurance, while black guys have the fibers designed for spring and power. Its genetics. I'm white and am about 6 foot tall and I can't dunk despite leg-pressing 1000lbs and squatting 300lbs. I have talked to black guys who said working out there legs gave them 4 more inches of bounce. So if you're white its hopeless I say, but If you're black you probably wouldn't be asking the question because you should already be able to DUNK.

    work out your calfs and you will be able to in no time.

  4. Do not listen to CB above me. I'm white and I have a 40 inch vertical, and I was not born with it at all. I've done workouts and added 20 inches to my vertical over the years. The first step in jump training is to develop strength. This is most easily done in the weight room with squats and deadlifts. Jumping is an explosive motion though, so you also have to train your muscles to be stronger faster. This is done with explosive training like plyometrics and power lifts.   6. You need to practice jumping and hit the weight room as well. Working your legs out only won't do much. You need and all around workout. Don't focus on dunking so much. It will come in time. Chris Paul didn't wake up and dunk. He worked hard to do that.
