Chris Paul not intimidated by the Los Angeles Lakers roster – NBA News
As the 2012-2013 regular season approaches, the excitement is building up for what is expected to be a great NBA season.
Last season was cut short due to the lockout, and fans are anxiously waiting for a complete one which can differentiate the best teams in the NBA from the rest. Also, the offseason has brought about many roster changes in the teams
and has strengthened a few teams and plunged them back into championship contention.
Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves are all teams that have considerably improved over the offseason.
But no team has had a bigger offseason than the Los Angeles Lakers, who landed Steve Nash and Dwight Howard, while retaining Kobe Bryant and Pau Gasol to compile a super steam filled with superstars at almost every position.
The addition has the Lakers being tipped as the team to take the NBA title next season. Also, the roster change has spoiled the party of the Los Angeles Clippers, who were slowly making a name for themselves in a town obsessed
with the Lakers. The Clippers landed All Star point guard Chris Paul before the start of last season and had a successful campaign, reaching the Western Conference Semi Finals. However, their city rivals are back in much of the basketball conversation in the
city after their spectacular offseason.
Paul was on the Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday and asked about the new line-up of the Lakers that boasts superstars in nearly all positions. CP3 did not seem too intimidated and replied:
“Why should I be [nervous]. At the end of the day you have to play the games. When we got to the Olympics, if you looked at our roster, you could've just given us the medal but you have to play the games and that's what makes it
so exciting.”
Paul was also asked if he was the best player in the league and as a result, automatically the best in Los Angeles, he said:
“I'm a little biased on that one too. I would like to think [so]."
The battle for supremacy is on in Los Angeles, with both team having star players as well as successful seasons to generate fan interest. But particularly after the kind of summer the Lakers have had, it is safe to say that they
still hold the advantage when it comes to attention and loyalty in L.A.
