Chris Paul plays his first ever game for Los Angeles Clippers - NBA Update
Just few days ago, New Orleans Hornets star Chris Paul signed a contract with Los Angeles Clippers, which has added a whole new dimension to the Los Angeles basketball equation.
The Clips fans have been in a frenzy ever since the move materialized and turned up in large numbers to witness the star during the team’s first practice game played at the Galen Center.
Paul was welcomed with a boisterous cheer from the crowd and throughout the game, crowds kept on chanting his name, which got him emotional in the end.
He was finding it hard to express his delight over the overwhelming response of the fans and when he finally did, he thanked the crowd and promised them he and his team will give hundred percent on the court every game.
"I'm just excited about what we have here and I'm extremely grateful for the welcome the fans have given me."
Although he failed to produce a healthy tally and looked offbeat in the game but the team’s coach and players looked relaxed because they are aware, this was his first outing after a while, and with time, he will definitely get
back in shape and do in the court, what he is known for.
Coach Vinny Del Negro added
"He's gonna lose a few pounds, he's gonna feel a little bit better. Right now, when you come in, the play-sets are a little bit different, the terminology's a little bit different. It's easier, because he's been around and he knows
a lot of this stuff.
He is in this business for more than seven years now and has everything in his arsenal. With his experience and skills, he is going to do wonders for Clippers.
Los Angeles Clippers are not amongst the top NBA teams- have never been.
They do not have any titles under their belt and in fact, have only qualified to playoffs just four times in thirty five years of franchise’s history. Naturally, their fans don’t expect much from the team, and that sums up for
the empty seats, often spotted at the Staple center- Clippers arena, when the team is playing their scrimmage.
But all that is likely to change this season.
They have the league’s best emerging player in form of Blake Griffin, who stunned the basketball world with his breathtaking play in his Rookie season last year. Then they have DeAndre Jordan and recently acquired Chauncey Billups.
These guys along with Paul would levitate the team to a different level and in coming years, Clippers might emerge as one of the best teams in the league.
