Chris Paul is excited about heading into his second season with the Los Angeles Clippers; eager to return
The Los Angeles Clippers were expected to make yet another slow start to the season with two of their biggest stars Blake Griffin and Chris Paul out with injury.
However, Paul might be on his way back sooner than expected. The All-star guard anticipates to return before pre-season comes to an end and a season opener return against Memphis Grizzlies does seem as a realistic deadline.
"Today was the first day they actually allowed me to shoot layups, so today was the best day ever," Paul said. "I hope I get a preseason game in before the season. I probably have to start off the season wearing a brace, but I
get to wear the brace less and less. I wear it when I go to sleep, but I'm on track. I go to rehab every single morning at 6:30 a.m."
This was the first time Paul did not have to wear a protective strap to practice since tearing a right thumb ligament while practicing with team USA in Las Vegas. It was a tough time for the Olympic gold medallist as he had already
seen two of his Clippers team-mates go down with injury and miss out on the London Games.
Even though Paul was able to savour the experience of an historic campaign, the experience would have been more worthwhile for the Clips, had he got one of his team-mates to accompany him. Now though, the only thing in his mind
is the next NBA season;
"I just get excited thinking about it," Paul said. "I don't think I've been this excited going into a season in a long time. Not just from a basketball aspect, but I love the guys. These are genuinely great guys, and I'm excited."
Paul surely has a reason to be excited about as he gears up for his second season with the Clippers. After adding players like Lamar Odom and Grant Hill over the summer, the Clippers are in a better position than last time around
and will be rearing to continue their success spree.
