Chris Paul wants a shift in power centre at Los Angeles – NBA Update
Chris Paul has been at the Los Angeles Clippers for only a few days and he is already making sound waves.
The star point guard, who landed at the Clipper land along with two future second round picks in exchange for shooting guard Eric Gordon, German center Chris Kaman, second year forward Al-Farouq Aminu and Minnesota's unprotected
2012 first-round pick, wants a new order at Los Angeles, an order led by the Clippers instead of the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Staples Centre, which is home to both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Clips, is best known by the exploits of the mighty Lakers over the years. C3P however wants to change all that and is rearing to start a new dynasty. For
that he has made a long term commitment with the franchise.
His first aim is to get his hands on the Larry O’ Brien trophy;
"I'm crazy competitive," he said in his introductory news conference on the floor of the Clippers practice facility. "I think that's what makes me the player that I am. I just have to compete, so knowing that they never won a championship
here I wanted to be a part of something like that. ... I want to see those Clippers T-shirts around town. I want to see everybody filing into Staples Center to see us play and at the end of the day I want to win here."
The Clippers, a side which has made only four playoffs appearances in their 35 years of franchise history, resurged to prominence with the arrival of Blake Griffin last season. It is a side full of young stars and the Chris Paul
acquisition has taken them to a brand new plane. Then there is the experience of veteran guard Chauncey Billups and Paul knows it’s going to be one h**l of a ride;
"Everyone knows Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan signed his deal and my big brother, Chauncey Billups, who I'm excited to be playing alongside of. This is going to be an unbelievable experience."
At present, four of the Clippers starting five are under 24 years of age and in a crammed 66-game NBA season; they certainly have a big advantage.
