Chris Paul- where is the Hornets’ point guard going?
The summer of 2012 might be witnessing one of NBA’s great point guards Chris Paul to be in the free agency. After the formation of a formidable squad in the Miami Heat, Paul has expressed his desire to be part of a superstars’ team. For this, he needs to be either traded with a team of superstars or else create one within his own current team, the New Orleans Hornets.
Although the meeting between Hornets’ management and Paul proved out to be fruitful and Paul was convinced to stay with the Hornets, still some experts believe it’s only a matter of time before the point guard is seen somewhere else.
With LeBron James moving in with the Miami Heat and the formation of one of the best trio’s in NBA, Paul wants to form a team of his own by going into the New York Knicks. He, in a statement earlier had expressed his willingness to move to the Knicks but after talks with the Hornets’ management decided to calm down and not to move on at least for the moment.
The Hornets surely know that Paul is an important asset for them so he should be retained in the team. While ensuring this, they are making certain moves to bring in other players that could make the team strong. However, if the Knicks are able to acquire both Carmelo and Paul at a time, they may without a doubt be one of the best trio. Other than the Knicks, the first team on Paul’s wish list seems to be the Orlando Magic. Experts are of the view that Chris wants to be with strong players such as Dwight Howard. The Hornets are contending on not letting Paul go but if the player shows unwillingness to stay then he might eventually be traded. This trade, however, could give the Hornets a chance to grab some experience like Vince Carter.
Paul could also move to the Miami Heat but this move of his would most probably be a result of low market price just as LeBron and Bosh had at their time. Although some experts term such a deal impossible, still there are those who say that Heat wouldn’t mind adding Paul to its squad as it would give it another strong player and also have 4 big names in the starting line-up out of 5. Other than this, Paul also has strong relations with King James. This is evident from the fact that he signed in the marketing company that is headed by James’s crew. If LeBron would want the star player in Heat, he would surely bring him in whether this decision of his may be popular or not.
The Dallas Mavericks are another destination for Paul and according to experts he could be the successor of Jason Kidd there. Teaming up with Dirk, both of them could setup a roster that may not only be diverse but a combination that might lead the Mavericks and Dirks to their first NBA title. Last but not the least; the Lakers could be another location for Paul. Although, this is not even speculated upon but still the experts believe that Kobe is gaining years and the Lakers need a new player who can be as good and a playmaker like Kobe. What better option for this than Chris?
Despite all of the predictions and suggestions, only time will tell where Chris moves and what outcome it produces?
