Chris Pronger surgery reported to be successful
The Philadelphia Flyers are flooded with players on the injured list for now. They have around eight players that are expected to go across surgeries in the upcoming couple of days.
However, the most recent player to have successfully completed the surgery was Flyers star player, Chris Pronger. Pronger was facing back problems for a long time, and finally had it operated on.
Talking to the media about the operation, General Manager of the Flyers, Paul Holmgren, said that the surgery went pretty well and was a success.
"A disc fragment that was pressing up against a nerve was removed. Chris will begin a walking rehab in a few days. At Week 6 post-surgery he will begin core strengthening".
Another player who had two tears in his abdominal area, Kris Versteeg was also operated on for the problem. He has been advised 10 days bed rest, after which he would start to move around and there is time before he puts his skates back on.
The long list of players to have had surgery, after Pronger, now includes goal keeper, Michael Leighton, who had been constantly facing hip problems. Scans revealed that the player was facing a torn labrum in the hip. He too had his problem operated on in
a matter of few weeks. He would be back to practices and fully fit.
One of the biggest questions was about Captain Mike Richards, as he played a lot of games with an injured hand? There were chances that since he carried the injury for a long time, it might have gone worse.
Finally, the season came to an end for the Flyers, which saw the Captain getting his wrist operated on and it was said by the GM that he is perfectly alright and there is nothing to worry about.
Andrej Meszaros also had his torn cartilage operated on, along with his Captain this Wednesday 12 May, 2011. He too was declared normal after the surgery and would be back after some bed rest.
Last but not least, Blair Betts will also be out of action for a month after he had surgery on his little finger.
