Chris Robshaw extends his stay at Harlequins for three more years – Rugby Union news
Chris Robshaw, Harlequins’ captain, has signed a three-year contract to extend his stay at the Quins. The announcement was made on the clubs website on May 12.
Harlequins Director of Rugby, Conor O'Shea, has welcomed Robshaw’s contract extension news. O’Shea also went on to say, "Chris Robshaw embodies everything this club is and wants to be about.”
Robshaw is regarded as one of the top five flankers of the Aviva Premiership and has been approached by others clubs. However the player chose to stay with his club. O’Shea has expressed his admiration for Robshaw’s decision
to remain with the Quins. He said, “We know people will move on but our intention is to keep the core of this group together for a long period of time and we intend to act early so they can trust that they are in this together."
O’Shea has also expressed his support for flanker’s aspirations to become a regular member of the England’s national rugby union team.
Surrey born flanker made his debut at the age of 21 after progressing his way up through the Harlequins Academy. In the past six seasons, Robshaw has made 84 appearances for the Harlequins and has scored 40 points through tries.
His presence in the squad has boosted the clubs performance as well. Quins have won 42 of the 84 games in which Robshaw has featured with success rate of 53 percent.  
In 2008, Robshaw made his debut for England Saxons. In 2009, he made his international debut for England national rugby union team against Argentina and remained on the field for 53 minute.
The 25-year-old Robshaw will lead his team for the Amlin Challenge Cup clash against Stade Francais next Friday. He said, "It is a real honour to be captain of one of the oldest rugby clubs in the world and certainly one of the most recognisable and in the
short term I can't wait to lead the boys out on Friday in the Amlin Challenge Final, which will be our first major final since 2004."
Harlequins’ captain has also expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance. He reckons that the Club is “on verge of achieving great things.”
Talking about his plans for the team, Robshaw said, “Harlequins are a great club and one which I think is on the verge of great things in the coming years. We have a squad with a great mix of youth and experience and we are trying to play a brand of rugby
that will excite and challenge."
Robshaw has expressed his desire to help his club and country to achieve new goals now that his furture is secure with the club of his choice.
