Chris Robshaw wants to end the season on a high – Rugby News Update
Chris Robshaw, the 25-year-old England and Harlequins' back-row, wants to end the season on a high, by winning the final of the Aviva Premiership against Leicester Tigers, this Saturday, May 26.
It will cap a wonderful year for Robshaw, who was handed the England captaincy for the 2012 Six Nations, along with being named the Aviva Premiership Player of the Season.
However, he knows that it will not be easy to achieve victory against the finalists, who have reached the final eight times in as many seasons.
"If someone had told me at the start of the year that this would all happen, I would have probably laughed at them," Robshaw told
Press Association Sport.
Robshaw played for the England Schools Under-18 and then for the Under-21, before he earned his international debut against Argentina at Salta, on June 13, 2009. He has played for his national side six times and has a chance to add to those caps when he
tours South Africa, as part of the England squad for a three-match test series.
He is looking towards the future and having missed the cut for the 2011 Rugby World Cup, he was determined as ever to prove his doubters wrong. He said, "It was very frustrating to miss out on the World Cup. You have your dark moments and your sulks. But
you have to get back on the horse. When you come here you are not coming to a job, you are coming to do something that you love, with your mates."
He was not taking the threat of the Tigers lightly and he feels that every team in England aspires to be as good as Leicester. Quins have never won a Premiership title and he wants to propel his team to their first ever triumph. He added that reaching eight
consecutive finals is no mean feat and it is important to be clinical against them, as they can hurt you in attack at any point during the game.
Lining up next to him will be Nick Evans, the Rugby Players’ Association player of the year, and they have every chance to emerge victorious.
