Chris Rodgers lands in the second position - King’s Cup round two

Chris Rodgers of England carded a three-under par 69, in the second round of the King’s Cup, to share the second position, on Friday, November 30, 2012.
The tournament is being played at the Singha Park Khon Kaen Golf Club, and is the third-last tournament on the Asian Tour roster.
Rodgers, who recorded his maiden Asian Tour victory at the 2006 Pakistan Open, fired an eight-under par 64 in the opening round to mark a strong start to his campaign in Thailand.
However, the Englishman failed to emulate his first-round performance on day two, and carded six birdies against three bogeys to finish two-strokes behind the leader Supakorn Utaipat.
At the end of the day, he found himself accumulating a two-round total of 11-under par 133. Mardan Mamat of Singapore and the defending champion Udorn Duangdecha were the other two players who posted the same score to share the second position with Rodgers.
Talking to the Asian Tour’s official website, he stated that it was really difficult to repeat the heroics of his first-round performance.
Therefore, he was still happy to post a decent score on the leaderboard, entering the last two rounds. He now plans to play with a relaxed frame of mind, in a bid to tackle the pressure he felt during the first two rounds.
“I’m not sure how you are supposed to follow up on a 64. I tried to do it again but it was not that easy. I had a couple of bogeys which was silly. I maintained my 100% fairways hit and making those bogeys were a bit poor,” said Rodgers.
“The most important thing is to have fun when you play and I think that’s going to be an asset for me on Sunday,” added the Englishman.
Chiang Chen-Chih of Chinese Taipei, in the meantime, made a strong charge on the leaderboard, after carding a 64, to tie for the fifth position with Lin Wen-Tang, Wade Ormsby, Elmer Salvador, Boonchu Ruangkit and Prom Meesawat.
“I’m showing improvements in my game and hopefully I can finish within the top-five so that I can have the opportunity to play again next week,” said Chiang.
