Chris Sale likely to play as bullpen member
Some of the top Chicago White Sox management members were on deck in the opening Sox-fest Town Hall meeting, recently.
The emphasis of the planned event was to provide the news on the players and the club. With spring training less than a month away, there is an understanding that clubs will need to get the fans behind the ball stars, in order to generate a free flowing
energy moving up to April.
The White Sox have been working up on some of their tactics for the year and with a record breaking budget of over $120 million, the intention seems clear on where the management is planning to lead the franchise.
There is a tough contest awaiting the side in the American League Central Division, this year. With teams like Detroit Tigers and the Minnesota Twins piling up with quality signings, there is a sense of worry in the fan’s support.
Chris Sale is one man, who can make things work for the club as his pitching ability has the knack to leave many opponents pondering over their mistakes. The pitcher, who has been training this off-season, for a starter’s role, will not be featuring in the
rotation.
The ace will be returning to the bullpen and it seems to be an awkward situation. General Manager, Ken Williams, was able to talk of the matter and he made his own appeal to the supporters.
He talked about letting Sale continue on with his annual training as a pitcher. The prospect of making the player go through another route for preparing as a bullpen member seems risky.
"If you now try to have him do something he's not used to doing, you might not get the guy you just saw the last half of the season", Williams said. "I think it's important for him to always prepare - for all guys, not just him -- as they always have to
get the most out of him”.
