The 27-year-old defender has been heavily linked with a move away from Ewood Park after an interview in L’Equipe. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Congo-c2875 international apparently claimed that he felt it was time to move on to a new challenge after he felt he had been lied to.
When Kean was asked about this, the Scotsman revealed he had not seen the interview. He did however admit that there had been two bids so far from a club that the Rovers had rejected. He claimed that the central defender was not for sale.
Kean said while speaking to reporters:
“What is definite is that there were two bids from one club which were refused. We put out a club statement which was quite strong, saying that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 was not for sale and as far as I am concerned, there is a line drawn under it.”
Samba has been linked to the likes of Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 and Tottenham Hotspur, but it is not yet certain which club made the offer for his services in the January transfer window. Despite the likelihood of Samba’s departure, Kean urged the player to respect
his existing contract with the club.
He revealed:
“You can ask the player to respect his contract - I don't think you make contracts for any other reason than to show your commitment to the player, and you would then like the player to show that back to the club.”
This is not the first time Samba has been linked with a move away, with the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hertha-BSC-c39521 defender linked with a Blackburn Rovers exit in the summer transfer window. Kean was hopeful they could once again convince the Rovers skipper to remain with the
club past the winter transfer window.
Kean continued:
“There have been situations (before) where there have been bids for Chris, and there have been a number of times when he has shown a desire to leave and it hasn't happened for whatever reason.”
