Blackburn Rovers defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christopher-Samba-c9212 urged his side to improve their results and admit they had not been in the best of forms against Newcastle United over the weekend. The Rovers lost 3-1 to the Magpies at St. James’ Park, a loss which once again put them at the bottom of the English Premier League table.
The Rovers manager Steve Kean was put under immense pressure after his side failed to secure a win in the opening fixtures of the English Premier League. A section of supporters went as far as to organize a march asking for the removal of the manager.
The opposition to Kean did die down when Blackburn Rovers recorded back to back wins against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 and Leyton Orient in the Premier League and the Carling Cup. However, the loss to Newcastle United will once again put Kean’s position under scrutiny.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Congo-c2875 international felt that his side had some positives to take from the game against Newcastle United, but it didn’t change the fact that he had failed to secure any points. He said that Blackburn Rovers needed to strengthen their defence to stop conceding soft goals, which they had over the weekend.
Samba said while speaking to reporters:
“That was not a good Blackburn team that turned up. It was not a good performance.
The team is much better than we showed. We could've gone out and made it more difficult for them; we conceded soft goals and should've been tougher at the back.”
The 27-year-old defender was confident his side possessed the necessary quality to compete in the Premier League and had to improve a little to get decent results. Samba urged the strike force and the defenders both to improve their form since they had both failed to get results in the majority of their fixtures this season.
He said:
“We must have more will and heart. Everything we can improve, every department.
The team needs to fix things ourselves and make sure we stick together. We need to be more ruthless in both boxes because we've been beaten in both boxes.”
Samba said he believed the Rovers were in control of their own destiny and could improve their standing in the Premier League if they believed they could. He felt creating chances was important for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385, which would guarantee them better results in the future.
Samba continued:
“You need to push your luck and force your own destiny. We need to do that, we need to create more chances and push forward more.”
