Chris Sandow overwhelmed on his inclusion in the Indigenous team for 2012 All Stars
While talking to the official website of National Rugby League (NRL), Chris Sandow shared his delight over his inclusion as the halfback in the new Indigenous team for 2012 All Stars on the Gold Coast. He will play the All Stars match at Skilled Park on
February 4, 2012.
Previously, the Indigenous Australian professional rugby league player played for the South Sydney Rabbitohs in National Rugby League competition (NRL) but from the 2012 NRL season, Sandow will represent the Parramatta Eels.
The news about his pick in the All Stars squad was broken to him by the Indigenous All Stars coach Laurie Daley over a telephonic conversation, which took an emotional toll for him because it was not at all expected by him. However, those were the tears
of joy on the overwhelming news for the Eels’ half-back.
Expressing his delight over his confirmation in All Stars’ squad, the Australian Indigenous player said, “Yeah I am excited about being in the side – I had tears of joy when they rang me up, that I was chosen. I think playing for the Indigenous All Stars
will start my year off and my career off at the Eels with a bang. I’ll take a lot by being around Scotty Prince and Johnathan Thurston – and I’ll take that back to Parramatta and start the year off really good there with those boys.”
It appears that the player could not have desired for anything more. He is all set to start off his rugby league voyage with Eels at a high note – i.e. by playing for in the All Stars game in February. His on field brilliance during his bout with Rabbitohs
in 2011, won over the hearts of the fans. This is the reason why he beat the rugby league greats such as; Johnathan Thurston, Scott Prince and Dragon Jamie Soward in the fan poll.
The player also believed that the fans definitely had to make tough choices because in his competition, there were a host of players who had been around in the world of rugby, for quite some time. He also acknowledged that it was a huge honour for him and
he would have agreed even if any other position was offered to him.
Sandow is hoping to learn a lot from this experience, before he checks out for his spell with Eels.
