De Gea’s error in United’s 3-2 community shield win over Manchester City allowed the Citizens to score their second goal of the match when Edin Dzeko’s long ranged effort sailed past De Gea. In his Premier League debut against West Bromwich Albion, De Gea
was found wanting yet again as Shane Long’s cross goal shot sneaked underneath the Spanish shot stopper.
Nonetheless, De Gea was bailed out by an own goal in the second half in their match against West Bromwich Albion as they went onto win the encounter by two goals to one against Roy Hodgson’s men. Now Manchester United prepare to
take on Tottenham Hotspur in their second match of the season at Old Trafford, De Gea will most probably start in goal for the home team and he has the backing of his team mates.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chris-c9006 Smalling who is another young star in the Manchester United squad spoke about De Gea and he said, "Some of the media criticism this week has been a bit judgmental given he has only played a couple of games for us. The manager
has obviously put a lot of faith in him by making him first choice, and I think he is going to be a great goalkeeper for us. A real bonus.”
Smalling added, "He has been training really well. We have played a few small-sided games this week and you could see his agility, his kicking ability. He is showing his quality, and it is only a matter of time until the whole
world sees it too. It's all a learning curve and I think a lot of the foreign lads take time to get used to it.” Smalling ended his interview by stating that De Gea is learning English and he is also slowly adapting to life which will make things better for
him in Manchester.
