Chris Smalling has come out and admitted that he is delighted to be back in Manchester United’s central defence after a stint at right back for the English Premier League giants. Sir Alex Ferguson started with the young Englishman
in central defence for United, in the Red Devils UEFA Champions League tie against Otelul Galati in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Romania-c2990.
Smalling also played against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749
and Manchester United. Rafael da Silva’s injury coupled with Gary Neville’s retirement has prompted Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 to use Smalling at the right back position.
Furthermore, Smalling’s performances at the right back role vindicated his selection as well. The defender himself stated after Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Otelul Galati, "It was nice to be back in central defence. That is
my favourite position and I want to play as many games as I can there. But if I can contribute in any way, I will just give of my best."
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nemanja-Vidic-c27550 was sent off for Manchester United in the second half when the referee brandished his red card for the Serbian centre back. Smalling commented on the incident and said, "I saw it from behind I didn't expect the red
card but in Europe they are a lot harsher. We had to be patient, we didn't create too many chances in the first half but we kept pressing and it paid off. Wayne and Javier were causing problems around the box. The opposition were starting to pick up yellow
cards and we were more penetrating close to goal."
Sir Alex Ferguson’s team now take on Manchester City in their next league match at Old Trafford in the English Premier League on Sunday afternoon. Smalling and co. will be hoping that they get all three points on their home turf
to regain the lead at the top of the Premier League table.
