Chris Smalling has high praise for Bebe

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has hailed fellow summer recruit Bebe’s impressive cameo appearance in Wednesday night’s 5-2 Carling Cup win at Scunthorpe.
“He really caused their full-back problems, coming in from the wing, and hopefully we'll see him produce that kind of form in many games to come,”
Smalling stated
to United’s official website.

Bebe was afforded a late 15 minutes of playing time at Glanford Park, coming on for South Korean international Park Ji-Sung once the game was sewn up at 5-1. Playing out on the left-wing
his pace and directness caused the hosts all sorts of problems and Smalling thinks the Portuguese youngster will only get better.
“Since he's come in, he's become sharper every day. He's really improving and working on his fitness,” claimed the former Fulham defender.
Much has been made of Bebe’s summer move to Old Trafford after they splashed out £7.4m on the striker even though Sir Alex Ferguson hadn’t even seen him play. On top of that, Bebe had
only transferred to his former club, Vitoria de Guimaraes, barely 10 weeks earlier on a free transfer, but after impressing in the pre-season games, he earned himself a sensational move to the Red Devils.
At just 20 years of age, he certainly has time to adapt to the rigors of the English game, and at 6ft 2in, he has the physical frame to cope with rough and tumble of life in the Premier
League. Fergie has had good judgement when it comes to Portuguese players recently, with Cristiano Ronaldo obviously hitting almost unbelievable heights, while Nani has begun to prove his worth recently, becoming a vital part of the first team setup. Bebe
will no doubt have to bide his time at Old Trafford, as his Manchester United career will be slow to begin with, but despite the uncertainty over the transfer itself, it will be a few years yet until judgement on the deal can be made.
