Chris Tillman shines as Baltimore Orioles shutout Chicago White Sox 6-0 – MLB Update

Baltimore Orioles continued their excellent run as they shut-out the Chicago White Sox 6-0 at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland on Tuesday, August 28 in the second game of their four match series.
Starting pitcher Chris Tillman had an outstanding outing as he pitched seven effective innings for his seventh win of the season. Overall, he gave up just a hit and struck-out five batters to improve his ERA to 3.26.
"If J.J. isn't making the play, then no one's making the play," said Tillman in an interview.
"There were plenty of games where I had better stuff," the right-hander insisted. "There were some spurts there when I kind of got out of whack."
Relief pitcher Brian Matusz also pitched with great control and accuracy, tossing up two scoreless innings to help Orioles shut-out their opponents. Nick Markakis doubled to deep centre in the second inning to put Baltimore on the board.
Designated hitter Lew Ford connected for a two run home-run to left in the third and Adam Jones smacked a home-run to right in the seventh to take Baltimore to an impassable 6-0 lead. Surely, the Orioles will be looking to put up similar offensive show in
the next two games.
"Tillman shut down one of the game's best offenses," Jones said. "Those guys are hitting. He shut that lineup down."
"It was almost like I hit a brick wall," Rays’ starter Chris Sale said. "The first couple of (batters) I felt like I was dialed in, throwing strikes. Then it just got away."
Orioles edged the White Sox 4-3 in series opener and they continued their excellent work in Game 2 to take an impassable 2-0 series lead. With their win, Baltimore also moved one game ahead of third placed Tampa Bay Rays on the American League East Division
standings.
Credit should be given to the Manager Buck Showalter who has lead his team out of trouble on a number of occasions this season and it will be interesting to see if the Orioles can stretch their winning streak to grab one of the Wild Card spots.
